Unter dem Thema »re-coding everyday technology« lud die Arbeitsgruppe für außergewöhnliche Ein- und Ausgabemedien Künstler*innen, Forscher*innen und Designer*innen ein, Beiträge und Perspektiven für die gleichnamige Publikation zu erstellen. Parallel zur Online-Publikation werden im LUX Pavillon verschiedene interdisziplinäre Arbeiten gezeigt, die digitale Technologien im alltäglichen Gebrauch reflektieren, hinterfragen und um-deuten. Alltägliche Technologien wie Google Maps, Drucker, RFID-Chips, E-Mails, Websites, Faxgeräte und andere Black Boxes erhalten so neue Blickwinkel, die Fragen aufwerfen, aber auch Perspektiven zum Weiterdenken bieten.

Über die Arbeitsgruppe

Die Arbeitsgruppe für außergewöhnliche Ein- und Ausgabemedien ist ein kooperatives Forschungsprojekt der Hochschule Mainz und NODE Verein zur Förderung digitaler Kultur. Durch Experimente, Vorträge, Workshops und Publikationen untersucht und reflektiert die Arbeitsgruppe digitale Technologien aus gestalterischer Perspektive. Die Prämisse des Außergewöhnlichen dient dabei als Mittel, sowohl den Gebrauch von digitalen Medien in der alltäglichen Gestaltungspraxis zu hinterfragen, als auch neue Perspektiven für die Gestaltung der digitalen Umwelt zu eröffnen.

Die Ausstellung kann vom Freitag, den 11. – 21. Oktober 2023 im LUX-Pavillon zu den offiziellen Öffnungszeiten besucht werden.

The working group for unusual input and output media has invited artists, researchers and designers to create contributions and perspectives for a publication under the theme »re-coding everyday technology«. Alongside the web-based publication, the diverse interdisciplinary works reflecting, interrogating and reinterpreting the digital technologies we use every day will be exhibited in the LUX Pavilion. New perspectives that pose questions while also providing food for thought are offered on commonplace technologies like Google Maps, printers, RFID chips, emails, websites, fax machines and other black boxes.

About the working group

The working group for unusual input and output media is a cooperative research project of the Mainz University of Applied Sciences and NODE Forum for Digital Arts. Through experiments, lectures, workshops and publications, the working group explores and critically reflects digital technologies from a design perspective. The premise of the unusual serves as a means both to question the use of digital media in everyday design practice and to open up new perspectives for the design of our digital environment.

The exhibition can be visited from Friday, October 11 - 21, 2023 in the LUX-Pavillion during the official opening hours.
